Cradle cap

Cradle cap is a common term for infantile seborrheic dermatitis which is usually a temporary condition and most of the times it will go away on its own. It generally affects the baby’s scalp, head, eyebrows, and areas behind the ears. Cradle cap isn’t serious and doesn’t hurt babies nor is it contagious. Just the thick crusting and white or yellow scales are quite unsighted for the parents and put them in stress while facing such a disorder.

Although it’s not infectious and does not harm the baby or cause any discomfort, it is necessary to manage and cure cradle cap well so that it does not take any nasty turn.

Cradle Cap Prevention:

It can easily be prevented if parents carry out the following effective measures on the daily basis:

  1. Wash your baby’s scalp
  2. Bathe them daily and shampoo their scalp.
  3. Help them shedding of the dry and scaly skin.
  4. Gently brush cradle cap from baby’s head with a soft cloth.
  5. Ensure that your baby is not having difficulty in adjusting to their environment and not dealing with hormonal imbalance.

Coconut oil helps to loosen the scales and flakes. Its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal actions make them easier to remove as it addresses the root cause rather than just treating the symptom:

  • The extra virgin organic coconut oill is one of the natural remedies for cradle cap. Apply pure coconut oil on your baby’s head and use soft toothed comb to remove the flakes.
  • Extra virgin organic coconut oil is perfectly healthy to massage your baby’s head and body after a bath. It is a good moisturizer to relax your infant
  • Extra virgin organic coconut oil also helps in the removal of outer layer of dead skin cells and makes the skin more smoother.
  • Massage gently with coconut oil onto baby’s scalp and leave it for about 15-20 minutes before performing shampoo.
